Ask a question:

NCS-2/4 Serial programing

Solution

To reprogram the NCS-2/4 attach the SDD-232 board on either jumper 16 or jumper 17 depending on
which XPorts are inaccessible or need to be reprogrammed. Jumpers 16 and 17 are eight port jumper
which can be seen below. The pins on the SDD-232 and the NCS-2/4 must match correctly for a proper
connection to be obtained. The user can check by making sure the SDD-232 board and ports C/D face
outward of the NCS-2/4 board when connecting it to each other.

When connected to jumper 16 on the NCS-2/4 board port C on the SDD-232 connects to XPort 1
transmission and receiving lines. When connected to jumper 16 on the NCS-2/4 board port D on the
SDD-232 connects to the XPort 2 transmission and receiving lines. When connected to jumper 17 on the
NCS-2/4 port C on the SDD-232 connects to the XPort 3 transmission and receiving lines. When
connected to jumper 17 on the NCS-2/4 board port D on the SDD-232 connects to the XPort 4
transmission and receiving lines.

NOTE: It is important to note that the transmission and receiving line connections in the terminal blocks
match up to the labelling on the SDD-232 board.
Once the SDD-232 board is placed in the desired location for the appropriate XPort then unplug the
power on jumper 1. Next, re-plug in the power back into jumper 1 and immediately hold down the x
button on the keyboard. The user should see within a couple of seconds a menu to reprogram the XPort.
